just wanted to know....
Do beardies get/act like Iggy's around mirrors ? Like Iguanas will get all defensive and can become stressed out also ..especially the males. Any of you who have been keeping them for awhile got any clue ? I would imagine the males would at least. AND NO I am NOT planning on "testing" it out to find out either...

hmmm....I'll have to say it varies from animal to animal. Some beardies, like mine, are completely neutral around both sexes, while some can't even tolerate seeing their own relfection in the terrarium walls...it just all depends..

OK..So unlike Iggy's then it basically is an individual personality thing with the beardies and their reflections I assume ? Trial and error then I guess

The BD I had seemed to want to meet that other BD in the mirror(oh, there is my friend. HEY there, lets play) type of thing. I didnt notice any agressive behavior in him. I can say much about others though.

Yeah, I suppose it's a personality thing. My beardie used to turn his beard half black and would often lunge for the mirror and bob his head and try to bite it several times. He wised up after a few minutes that he wasn't getting anywhere and just stopped trying. After that, he just turned his beard black but ignored the mirror.
The reason I think it's a personality thing is cause Life Forms keeps about 40 beardies in the middle of their store with like 4 or 5 beardies to a cage and only glass separating each group of beardies. Some of the males will bob their head off and try to get at the male on the other side, while the majority of the males could care less and ignore each other for the most part.

A few of mine have reacted to mirrors, but most of them catch on pretty quickly. Some will also chase their own reflection in the glass of the tank.
