And Got a cute little 9 week old Beardy at the Kentucky show today. I had a great time at the show even though there were not a lot of people there. For those of you who don't know, today was Kentucky Derby day. The Derby is the biggest thing that ever happens in Louisville. Hence the low turn out.
Anyway... Pics of the cute little guy will be forthcoming.

BoaGuy, he's still a little thing... about 2.5 inches nose to butt with about a 3 inch tail. Well fed looking though. I have a few questions about Beardies since I am new to them...
Question about collared greens... Should I:
A) Keep lightly dusted greens in with him to chomp on when he wants or
B) Put the greens in daily and take them back out when he loses intrest or
C) Just put them in when he looks like he wants them.
Speaking of things... nighttime temps...
Should I:
A) put a heating pad under the enclosure to keep the night temps up or
B) put a red or black light bulb in the heat lamp to keep the night temps up or
C) Let the night temps fall to the room temp of around 75-78?
Substrate for a kiddo his size...
A) Paper Towels
B) Calci Sand
C) Bark or mulch of some kind
D) Regular sand.
E) Something that I haven't thought of.
Last but not least... Should his florescent light be:
A) 5% UV
B) Some other kind of UV
Anything else I should know?

I'm not BG BUT anyway...
For your questions...
D) Put the greens in daily and remove when they are dried or daily whichever comes first.
A) put a heating pad under the enclosure to keep the night temps up [ I wouldn't suggest the colored light for a heating light like basking under as he wouldn't get such out of captivity with the dark nights, but ya do need to maintain a level of heat during the night for him. The UTH will do this for him. ]
A) Paper Towels [ Anything else I would think may impose an impaction problem possibly for him]
C] At least the 5% uv, you can use the 7% one if ya want to even.
Anything else I should know?
Of course there is Morti...
*Dust his greens like every 3 days at the minimum to help insure that he receives his calcium/vitamins/mineral
*You can also feed him pin head criks. Just don't leave em in the cage for long as I have heard that they could possibly "attack" the lil guy, especially the eyes if he does not eat them. What you should feed a juvie is an amount equal to what it can consume in like 10 minutes time frame. The criks, and any other "buig" you feed them should be no longer than the width of the dragons head.
*Provide fresh water daily to him, but in a small bowl as he is a desert specie and does not need the humidity factor at all.
*They like to climb so make sure that you provide him with a small , for now, climbing piece of wood to climb up on and bask from. Place it under his heating/basking light.
*Don't freak if ya see him sitting there with his mouth gaping open. This is how they cool themselves down some...It's actually called "gaping"
*Take it easy on the amount of spinach and kale which you feed him.
*ENJOY him!

Thanks Lori. The questions were aimed at everyone... Not just BG.
I actually have a pretty good setup for him I think...
Since he is so little, i have him in a 10Gal with paper towles as substrate. I have a cute little feeding dish that I am keeping chopped collared greens in (and yes they are dusted with reptavite). I tried feeding him some 1/4 crickets, but he did not seem intrested. I have a largeish water dish with some river stones in it so he can get back out. He has already gone swimming... That's how I found out that he couldn't get back out on his own. I also have 2 bits of cork bark (one leaned up against the other) so he has a high place to bask. That is definately his fave place to hang out. I have a 60 w bulb in a standard hanging reflector hood that is about 6 inches over the top of the tank on a boom arm rigged up by me. Tomorrow, I am going to get a florescent tube and hood (the 5% variety). In the interim, I am planning to take him out to get some real sun for about 10-15 minutes tomorrow.
I think I have all my bases covered, but I just wanted to make sure.
-Morti, like that.

It's a awsome Breardie, very docile for a little guy. Morti had everything set up within 10 min of walking in the door. It was good to meet him and Morticia it's nice to finally get to meet someone from the site.
