Ok, so one of my female beardies seems to be constipated. Other than soaking her, and keeping her reeally hydrated, any other ideas on how to help her pass what appears to be a slightly large, hard poop?
Thanx
Brian

A nice long soak in a warm bath always seems to work for our beardies.

Usually works for me as well, but this one is bein a stubborn girl. She took one big poop, and now seems to keep trying to poop with no results, and has made her rectum a bit raew and inflamed. Possible she just thinks she is still constipated?

Hi Nyte!
I agree with Stormy... Give the cute little guy a bath and while he is in there, see if he'll let you gently massage the area... just don't press too hard... you don't want to injure him.
If the problem persists, he may be suffering from impaction and need to be seen by a qualified reptile vet.
For a list of vets in your area, go to Melissa Kaplan's herp Veterinarian listing.
Good luck!

To elaborate on my last post.... I usually have to make the bath last 15 or more minutes and change teh water after about 5-10 minutes so that it stays warm. One of the dragons will usually let loose in the water at around the 15 minute mark the other one somehow holds it until she gets back in the cage and then goes about 20-60 minutes after she is back in her cage. And of course she usually makes sure that it is one a log or some other decoration that has to be removed and scrubbed
