my next door nabor has a brardie. but is not takeing care of it good. it is in a 15 gallon with dirt & rocks. it has a 100 watt on top but the light bolb is a house bolb not a pet light bolb. he has hed the brardie for about 2 weeks. there is a log & a heat rock in the tank. I don't know what he feed it. he has it next to his window so i can see it really good. but it don't look like a baby it looks around 20 inch may be smaller but i am not sure. it looks a little like a male but i only seen it one time with it's head up looking around. Is this how you take care of a brardie or should i call some one.

for heat, any light bulb will really work,
but some work better than others, I use regular 40w bulbs on my snakes that have basking lamps,
but those do not make acceptable substitues for full spectrum lighting.
icandescent light is icandescent light, all the reptile companies do is slap their label on it.

Sure some of them are more suited to directing heat in one direction, but there are bulbs that are equal to most incandescent reptile basking lights.

as far as the other questions,
you may want to ask him/her about it before you assume its not being properly cared for.

Heather, I would print off a good care sheet on bearded dragons and take it to them. They probably got some bad information from a pet shop since pet stores rarely know what they are talking about. Don't blame the people for not taking good care of their animal... instead just try to educate them.
