Over the last week or so ive noticed that my female beardie is doing a lot of waving.. Ive been searching trying to find out if this is a submissive thing or what but i havent found anything yet.. She doesnt just do it at the male, today i was looking in on her, because im dealing with an inner ear infection with her, and was getting ready to put some greens in for them when she turns and looks at me and starts waving.... Its the cutest #$%^$%^$%^$%^& thing ive ever seen, does anyone know why she is doing this???

Hey Sprint!
The Beardy wave is really cute huh? I think it really is a submissive thing since they do that during breeding. The male head-bob's violently and the female waves and then breeding starts. I can get my beardy to bob or wave by mimicing its motions when i go to it's cage. It is really cute to see.
And yes, they do eat their own shed.

Sprinter, I've read that young beardies make this gesture in the process of establishing a pecking order between the young. Its a gesture of submission to the other animal(s). In your case I'd think its has more to do with establishing the beardies position in the hierarchy of the habitat rather than having anything to do with mating rituals.

If his head's 16 inches long, that's not a beardie - it's a croc!
