Hello all, I need some help. My beardie is freaking out a lot lately. he isnt eating when i give him his food anymore, keeps jumping at the glass to get out of his tank, and is crapping everywhere. anything i can do to calm his happy a$$ down?? or unhappy, whichcever he may be. it is really getting on my nerves. i mean, i want him to be healthy and happy, not miserable, and im feeling guilty like i did something wrong. he has a huge tank(55 gallon breeder tank) gets greens and worms, has UVB lighting and a basking lamp. what more can I do?? I handle him as often as possible too. it is really odd. well, please help me out, thank you. too see a pick of my herps go to http://www.wickedreptiles.8m.com

I'll take it that your temp's are correct.
Would it possibly be parasite's, you said he
is crapping everywhere??
Is he well hydrated, is he drinking a lot??

Hey I may have missed it if you said, but how big is your beardie the tank may be way to big and that can freak them out they need a little clutter like hides rocks maybe a plant too much space can scare the heck out of a little animal. / Juggalette

I don't know about crapping everywhere, but I know your beardie running around is a good sign. A still dragon usually means that they are on watch and being still to make sure that no predators see it...and once they get comfortable they will take off like a madman. This may have nothing to do with hit, but just a shot in the dark.

the beardie is about 14 inches, has grown since i got him. he is hydrated, i spray him every other day and give him fresh water daily. the tank is actually a 50 gallon. it is 36 in longx 18 inches wide i believe. i recently switched to collard greens from mustard greens and i think this may be the problem, i bought some more mustard greens today, so i will see what happens. maybe he just needs more handling. i will try a few things and get back to ya. if u want to see pics of him and my leo, go to www.wickedreptiles.8m.com and post on the forum or sign the guestbook. preferably, both. thanks for the help

does he puff out his "beard" and turn it black when he's doing this? is he in the direct line of site for any other animals? he may be nervous if he can see some animal that he feels threatened by. BTW, that sounds like a great size tank for your beardie. -Juggalo

Seany.. It is in a 55 gallon tank.
Staple.. Like others have said..make sure it has enough hide areas to hang out in. Also.. give it a variety of veggies not just one type. Here's my page on feeding beardies .

well, i found out what the problem was. took him to the vet yesterday and he found parasite eggs in the stool i brought along. so, my beardie recieved a shot and i am feeding him baby food through a syringe until he is back to normal. has slept a lot since recieving the shot, but i think that is just a side effect. hopefully this will all clear up within a week or two. i am going to disinfect his tank tonight, and pick up some rocks and things for his tank. he doesn't use the hide he has now though. he can see my leopard gecko, but not a whole lot and it doesnt seem to bother him, being the gecko is 1/5th his size. i will keep you all posted, and thanks for the advice.
