do bearded dragons have the ability to shed their tails?

Both lol, You deffo not made your self look stupid for asking a valid question, and No they dont lose there tails like say a Gecko! Atleast as far as I know lol

No, they normally don't drop them in the manner that some lizards do.
Beardies, contrary to their name, do something even stranger.
When cornered by a predator or simply stressed to the point of sheer terror, the tiny spikes on their chins (the beard) will all drop off at once, giving the now beardless dragon the opportunity to make a hastey escape.
Fortunately, some genius, not telefrag as he would have you believe, decided that since most lizards don't have beards anyway, that it would seem quite stoopit to call this species beardless dragons and decidedly called them bearded dragons.
Now back to the tail dropping. They CAN lose their tails, but usually only when grasped by it and swung quickly over your head. Unfortunately this also scares the bejesus out of them, making their 'beard spikes' fall out as well, effectively changing them to tail-less beardless dragons, which really isn't recommended.
