Question Solar Meter 6.2

Good afternoon everyone, I was wondering if any of you have used the solar meter 6.2? If so, what would a good reading be on it? I used it out doors and it read about 240 on the meter. Tried it next to UVB light and it registers around 220, but soon as you move away it drops imediatly to about 20's. So, my question would be, How high should it read?

ED

PM NicoleRussell. She's the resident authority on UVB lighting. It may be tomorrow before she replies, but she should be able to answer any questions you have on it.

have you joined the meter readers group on yahoo?
your reading took place where? 240 is a great reading.
220 is good for indoor bulb too but it depends on how far away in inches you are from the bulb, where the animal is from in the world, and if it's a tube or not.

Nicole, I was also wondering your thoughts on if I purchase a 160W Mega-ray and used it in a 4'x2'x2' cage, with a Helix DBS1000 to regulate the temp. Would you think that would be over kill or not. Do to the reason that the 100W is usually out of stock. But I did find them on Baskingwonders.com for about the same price.

you really need the 100 watt for a cage of that height especially since you'll be using branches and platforms to bring up the basking temps and microwattage...have you tried going straight to reptileuv.com?
