hello all, I have just bought an african dab to keep my year old beardy company as i have been told that they live well together and that as my beardy refuses to eat any veg or fruit that having a dab in with her would encourage it to eat her greens, they seem to get on ok my beardy is not impressed by this naughty lodger but there have been no fights , what problems do you all forsee if any. i have been told that i should not give the dab to many hoppers or crickets but i find this hard as its all my beardy will eat at the moment and seperating at feeding times seems pointless, what are the best foods for these delightful lads any advice would be great thanks all fiona

Being from two completely different continents, they carry different bacteria that can and probably will make the other one sick. Also, they are not really "social" animals, so having a cagemate of any species is stressful, which can lead to loss of appetite and illness. It's best to keep them separately.

First, let me say I agree on the disease issue. BIG no no.

Second, reptiles don't need reptile "company", really. Uros in particular aren't fond of cagemates, including others of their own kind. Very few can be kept safely together. Beardies are big, curious, pests. They will eventually come into conflict, and when the beardie turns around to nip that spikey tail, he's going to run the risk of losing an eye. This has happened to other keepers, so I strongly suggest you don't do it. And that you slap whoever told you they get along well with a wet noodle.
