A anonymous member of Redtailboa.net has sent me a laptop to put up for Auction on Redtailboa.net after seeing CharlieJ's auction.

So here are the specs:
OS: Windows 2000 or Linux (you decide)
Type: IBM Thinkpad 390X
CPU Speed: 500MHZ
Memory: 256 Megs (you can upgrade this in the future)
Hard Drive: 32Gigs (I upgraded this from 12Gig)
Screen Size: 14.1 in. XGA TFT LCD
24x CDROM, 2 x Type I/II PC Card Slot,1 x USB 1.1, RJ-11 (modem), S-Video out.

A normal 10/100 network PC Card is installed in slot one, if needed I can install a optional Wireless G (54MBPS) network adapter.

Bidding starts at $10, with a reserve of $100. Shipping is set to $25. Payment will be sent via Paypal or Check/Money Order (allow time for Check to clear). This money will go towards our monthly cost for bandwidth and other website related expenses.

Everyone thank anonymous for this. Although he/she does not want to be known, I think its best that we all let this person know how happy we are for the donation!

2 things I forgot to mention.

One the CPU is a Pentium 3.

Second, anonymous alerted me that the battery has had issues charging in the past. So keep this in mind. If this is a problem, I'm sure you could find a replacement battery online. I am going to check this out myself and see if I can fix it. Sometimes its a matter of just letting the battery die, then letting it charge for 24 hours

Stupid Question,#1 but does the PC card allow for ethernet access for a cable modem? (I is computer illiterate )

Courtney, the card mentioned in the specs will allow for Ethernet access. The "10/100 network card" shows it's Ethernet -- with a 10meg or 100meg connection. BTW, even if it didn't you could throw away the card that's in it and get a new one from Office Depot for $30.00... OR, add another card in the second PCMCIA slot. I hope this helps!
