Hi all!

Well, as summer gets closer and closer (as does graduation!) and my fiance and I are looking for places to move into together, I've been thinking about getting either a GTP or ETB. I do have a few questions though. We are not going to get one for awhile (atleast until we move in together, and build all new enclosures for everyone, which might be w/in a month or 2). Anyway, what I wanted to know is:

1. What is the real difference between the 2?
2. Can one be handeled more than the other?
3. I saw a few websites that offer a pair for $600, is this a rip, or what?
4. Can I build the enclosure for an adult, and keep the baby in there, or would that be a stress for the baby?

I think those are all the questions I have for now. I would really appreciate it if anyone can answer these. I am going to check out a few of the websites that people have listed in this forum. But I think I am going to buy the snake at the White Plains show (prob in July pending everything working out).

Well I'll take a crack at this one... but boy did you leave a lot to be answered ! First off they come from an almost identical climate, but GTP's have slightly higher temps than ETB's do. They look similar, grow to similar sizes, both have heat pits and some huge teeth! GTP's lay eggs, where as ETB's have live birth. GTP's have some wild colorations as do Emeralds... but their color changes are spectacular! Both species can become stressed with too much handleing, but the Amazon Basin Emeralds tend to be the most calm out of all of them. As a rule most localities of GTP's are more "nippy" than the Emeralds are. I am assuming it was a pair of GTP's you saw for $600, which happens to be cheap compared to what they are usually. I cannot stress the importance of going to a known and reputable breeder... lots of sick animals are sold... especially in the case of GTP's and ETB's. Once an Emerald start's puking it may never recover. You should not put the baby into a large enclosure immediatly, it will become stressed. I wrote a decent caresheet on Emeralds which you can read here and the best GTP caresheet I have come across can be found here. I hope that gets you started, let me know if there is anything else I can help you out with!
