A very "special" GTP
I've never had much interest in GTPs. Sure they're amazingly gorgeous but they've never really been for me. But when I heard about this guy, I couldn't help myself. And I'm in love! Long story short, he's got a pretty severe broken neck. Watch the video for more info on him.
Without further ado... Capone!
He's got a perfect 3-scale by 3-scale diamond on his side. I love it!
Radiographs of his neck. These suckers are really hard to take pictures of!

Re: A very "special" GTP
It's sad that he's got a broken neck...but I couldn't think of a better owner! Now you have two snakes with broken spines, but I'm sure they are both loving life!

Re: A very "special" GTP
Oh, the poor guy!! He reminds me of my Kah. His Xrays did not look good either with a very severe spinal change of direction. What was the cause of the injury? Did someone try to force him off his perch when he was wrapped up nice and tight?

Re: A very "special" GTP
wow from the top view it doesnt look too bad, but from the side it does is he able to climb and perch normally, or does he sit on the ground all the time? im glad he went to someone who will care for him instead of putting him down, good job on another "special" snake

Poor little baby was dropped as a hatchling! I'm a huge fan of the breeder because not only do they produce beautiful snakes but they found a good home for this guy instead of tossing him in the freezer like some others might. And he's a doll! You can pick him up and once he finds a comfortable position, he just chills.

I know that's what I though too when I first saw him. The films are pretty startling though. He tries to perch like a normal chondro. Sometimes he gets it just right, sometimes he hangs half off, and sometimes he gives up and just chills on the ground. Once he's out of isolation, I'll be putting some decorative items in there that'll be easier for him to climb.

Aww! Thanks! Though I'm hoping to get the most recent "special" kiddo eating on her own fast. I'm okay with turning a "special" snakie into a plain old special snakie.

Not without risking severing his spinal cord. My boyfriend said we should give him some Viagra to "straighten him out." I rolled my eyes.

Yikes! I think your intentions are GREAT! However, as we all know it is sometimes very difficult to judge how a snake is feeling. If it is not able to eat on it's own, you may be inadvertently prolonging her suffering by force feeding. Just please keep in mind that there are some things worse than death.
Best of luck to you and the snake.

Oh trust me I know. I'm definitely a firm believer in the quality of life argument. The one I mentioned in that post is just a picky and somewhat problematic eater. I had to learn the hard way that one of the few signs a herp will give you is to stop eating and that's not a lesson I'll soon forget!

Re: A very "special" GTP
Aww, the poor baby! He is so adorable. At least he got the best home he could possibly have now. Just the thought of a snake with a broken neck makes me want to shed a few tears. I hope he isn't in any pain.

Re: A very "special" GTP
What a cute little guy.
enzyte works much better than the other stuff, from what I hear.
Duck tape and some Popsicle sticks would make a good splint, it was just a thought.
I hope he does good for you, and he is supper lucky to have you.
