At the McDonough show today, which was more of a bird show than a herp show, I decided to look for good perches that would work for arboreal snakes. There was one I was quite impressed with. It is actually a shower perch designed for parrots. The perch system is constructed of mainly PVC, and the actual perch itself is coated w/ some kind of textured rubber. Depending on the size of the perch, the whole thing is supported by 2 or 3 suction cups. You could even buy two and set them up perpendicularly for species that like to drape themselves over several points, such as ammies and carpets. The little eye hook on the end is mainly for added support, but not really needed. Nothing seems abrasive enough to harm a snake on it. These perches also fold away, and would work well for those of you who actually keep parrots. The perches go from $15-20, depending on size. What do you think?

Shower Perch

The company that carried them at the show is Parrots Playthings, but they don't have this perch on their site. So I guess they get them from the link above.

Hey Bry,
My only concern would be wether the suction cups will hold in a high- humidity environment.

Another perch available in the bird section is the manzanita branches. The ones around here come in a wide variety of sizes and even have a stud and bolt at the bottom which make them great for attaching to the side of a rubbermaid tub

I do prefer PVC over wood...But I agree with Craig. I think with constant weight, it is just a matter of time before it all comes crashing down. These are some of my PVC creations I made. I don't know how much it cost because I bought a lot of PVC stuff at one time and have just been making them as I go. Can't be over 3 or 4 bucks a cage invested though. This pic is of when I was first making them. Some have changed or have been added to and this is before I added mulch and plants.
