Yellow ATB (DUW)

Just playing around with my new camera (Nikon D40) and was taking pics of random snakes in the snake room. This little one just shed and looks pretty nice if I do say so. I'm still having trouble getting the entire snake in focus at once, either the head will be in focus or the body will be, but rarely at the same time... Oh well, enjoy! Oh, which background do you think looks better?

Killer boa! I do not think that either background diminishes from the snake's color. Red does seem to go better with the yellow, though.

I love their distinct heads and their laterally compressed bodies.

Thanks guys for the complements! This little guy/gal was on hold for someone who made a deposit, but personal issues prevented him from picking it up. S/He was born in Sept of 07. I think I'll hold on to it for a while longer, put some size on it and decide what to do after I get back from Africa...

I personally like the 1st pic on the white background (actually it's a pale blue, but the lighting makes it white), just wish is was clearer. I like both backgrounds too, just wanted to get others opinions.

that snake is sooo cute! I love its huge eyes

Oh, and if you want to have more of the snake in focus, try using a smaller aperture (aka larger f-number) dont know why its backwards lol. But yeah, you get a larger depth of field (more is in focus) if you use a higher f number

... Not to say that i don't like your pics though! I actually am a big fan of the macros where only the snakes head is in focus

Thanks for the info Amazon! I'll remember a higher f-number. I like the macro head shots too, but when you're taking pics to sell a snake or to see the whole body I get annoyed when the head's out of focus.

I sexed this little one last night and it turns out it's a female. A good buddy of mine wanted a female to go with the male he got from me last year so I gave her to him.
