Since I think I'm the only one on here with these... (DUW!!)

..just thought I'd post some pics of my group of Bredl's or Centralian carpets. I saw a picture of these carpets in the Firefly Encyclopedia of Reptiles and Amphibians and knew I would find a way to get my hands on them eventually. As I was leaving the Daytona show last year I made one last pass by a friend's table to say "bye" then spotted a pair of Bredl's on his table. Well even though I told myself no more snakes, the price was too good to pass up so they went home with me.

Here's the female right after I got home.

Well fast forward a year, now I have 3.3 from three different lines. My first pair that I got from Daytona were produced by Jay McLear (Best Boids) in 2005. They are a cross between the Lazik and the Price lines. My female is entering a shed cycle right now so I didn't want to bother her. She's the better looking of the two of this group. Here's some good pics of the male.

My second pair are also 05s. They were produced by Nick Mutton (Inland Reptile) and from the Price line. These are quite a bit smaller than the first 05 pair I got because they guy I got them from didn't know how to feed carpets. But they are developing very nicely, they should turn out brighter and cleaner than my first pair.
First up is the male

Next here is the female

Lastly I have a pair of the striped phase of the Lazik line. These two are from Shawn Christian, were born in 2007 and growing like weeds.
Here's the male

Here's the female

Thanks for looking, hope you enjoyed these rare gems from Down Under, I sure do!!

Upon looking at my own pics, it does look like the first male is going opaque as well. Also it's going to be so fun to breed these guys . I didn't notice until looking at their pictures, but their head patterns (which for carpets is typically very unique and different) are all almost identical!

So do I, that's what I love about Bredli. Very faded brick red on their heads and then it slowly fades to a black brown at their tail. Also they get upwards of 8 feet

Yes they are beautiful. But they're saying "move your hand a little closer, it looks pretty tasty." The older ones were calm, but the juvenile stripes were typical carpets, squirming all over the place and bitting me whenever I tried to reposition them.

They are so neat looking. I guess that makes up for the bitting.

I may have some next year, if not definitely in 2010. If you can't wait that long, I would say give Nick Mutton a call (Inland Reptile), he's got some absolutely killer adult Bredli and as far as I know he's got babies available now.

Ah...just saw this post.

Thanks for the pics! Bredli's are one of my fav's, although I don't have one. They are definitely on my wish list when I have more room and money. They are just so unique: the red color and silver eyes and heavy bodied. Just cool snakes!
