my JCPs (pics and questions)
I bought a 5 year old male proven breeder Sunday to pair up with my 6 year old female.
He's tiny- only around 4-4.5 feet, but that's OK, because my female isn't even 6.5 feet.
Here's the male:
This is the humane way to wear a snake skin belt
And here's my female:
So, right now, my female lives in a 40 breeder, an the male is in a 30 gallon, for quarantine. But next week I'm inheriting some money (after 3 years, I'm finally getting the check!), and I want to use it to buy a cage for the pair of them. A while back, I saw a really nice cage that was dividable. This is what I'd really like to do for them. I'd like to be able to put them together for the breeding season, but be able to separate them when it comes time to lay, and in case I ever had a problem. I'd also like a cage that I can see in fairly well, so I'd like to go with something a little taller than the 16" with a 12" window that seems to be standard.
Can anyone recommend a cage for me?
thanks,
Ronnie Nocera

Re: my JCPs (pics and questions)
Nice looking jungle. Personally, i like to go with taller cages for carpet pythons. But i have seen carpets being kept successfully in cages as short as 12". I wouldn't house them year round, just during the breeding process because a number of problems may arise. A vertically divided cage will work great, have you thought about stacking the cages?
I prefer to house carpets individiualy with adult cages being a minimun of 3.5'x2'x2' (LxHxW)

Re: my JCPs (pics and questions)
Very nice colors! I just read two articles about Carpet Pythons in Reptiles USA 2008 this morning. I would love to get a pair of Diamonds.

Re: my JCPs (pics and questions)
I'm thinking of going with the Boaphile cages that are 36x24x17.5" high. They're not exactly what I want, but they can be pieced together, so breeding season will be nice, with one big cage for them while they're paired, and separate when need be. And they'll work perfect for my boas.

Has anyone used the Carpet Cage by Animal Plastics? Do you know anything about them?
