Talking Arboreal Perch Structure

I wanted something cool to use for my new JCP so he has something to climb on, i didnt have anything but some Bamboo Plant Stakes Laying around so i grabbed the measuring tape and drew a lil design that i liked,

First make your design and measure the INSIDE of the tank so it will fit properly, Then cut all the pieces that you will need at the measurements you planned, I like to sort of lay it out so i dont get the measurements and pieces mixxed up

Next take all the pieces that need to connect end to end and drill holes in the center of the bamboo about 2 inches deep, like this

Next cut some coat hanger too about 3 inch lengths and and bend the angles you need in your design

it will fit together like this

Now put a glob of hot glue in the hole in the bamboo and put the angle you need of coat hanger in and connect the angle you want

once you get whose Angles glued and assembled it should be sturdy enough to stand on its own, when it is like this hot glue the rest of the pieces to the structure

it is pretty much done and will work now, but to make it look that much better wrap all the joints with some twine

Now just drop it into the cage and you have a nice sturdy arboreal perch that should work great for any smaller sized snake that likes to climb, my new carpet python has not even left the perch yet, not even to go into a hide

i hope you find this how to, easy to understand good luck

Re: Arboreal Perch Structure

A great way to utilize some of the empty space in the cage. I would use stronger materials so it will last longer. When the snake gets bigger you may find it apart at the bottom of the cage. Will the hot glue dry solid in a cage that is constantly warm? A good epxoy may have been a better choice. Very creative though.

Re: Arboreal Perch Structure

Don't try making a permanent structure like that for an emerald or you'll get bitten 3 ways to Sunday. Removable is the key word.
