Amazon Tree Boa Breeding
Does anyone here have any personal experiance breeding ATB's. I have read many care sheets and magazine articles, but they all differ. I know they are not the esiest species to keep, but have heard both sides of the spectrum as far as breeding goes. If anyone has personal experiances they would be willing to share on this species i would love to here it. Also how big are the largest specimens you have seen i have seen some girthy six footers but whats the max.
Thanks

Re: Amazon Tree Boa Breeding
Have you looked at this site? http://www.amazontreeboa.org/breeding.html
I breed C. caninus so I can't be specific, but Mike has a pretty good rep. I know the page isn't finished, but you might email him for info.

Re: Amazon Tree Boa Breeding
Thanks the snake looks alot better now, it has shed a few times and has the most amazing color defanitions. I didnt see to much info on the site about actual breeding but i will try and contact the owner for more suggestions. If anyone out here has some ATB's i would love to see them, i am begining to like them alot more and think the challenge of breeding them might be fun. I have stayed away from ETB's for 12 years due to their difficulty and have thought of the ATb as a good way to learn more about arborial snakes. I get very nervous about not keeping animals in perfict conditions and that has usually been what has keep me away from ETBs.

What difficulty? Maybe if you start out with WC junk, but cbb emeralds from a reputable source aren't difficult at all. I went the wc route in the beginning, but I learned my lesson. Unless someone is willing to part with an LTC (that's 2 years with no problems), I'll never get another. That includes "farmed" babies.

Re: Amazon Tree Boa Breeding
I guess that is just the problem you can find ATB's and ETB's in every flavor but quality captive breed animals are not that easy to come by. I like to see my animals before i buy them, but its so hard for me to have an animal shipped because i have been screwed over before. Animals that wont eat, are infested with mites, just plain mean, you get it all. But i did buy this animal wild caught and have had it for a wile now, but befor and after picks are amazing i really need to show you what it looks like now. It is tough though it took a month and a half of senting mice, braining mice, humidity regulation, and lots of bites but this animal is now one of my best eaters. I think it was one of the only wild caught animals i have ever bought and it was only because of the colors, i had to have it, its like a little darth maul. i hop to get some ETB's but dont want to go about it the wrong way.
