Re: Before & After
Soooo pretty!!! So it takes about 6 months for the color change? I'm turning green too, but with envy.

Re: Before & After
8 mos. is the average, I think.
Check out the color change pics on Tony's website (boas.net). Those will make you drool, not to mention that he knows how to work a camera better than me.

The two photos are just the female. The green photo turned out a bit cloudy but I wanted to post it anyway to show the color change.
In terms of them being "perfect", I think that we are doing so well with these animals because:
1. I spent quite a bit of time researching the husbandry requirements, differences in the various types, reputation of breeders, etc. before purchasing the animals.
2. I tested my set ups for months before bringing the animals home, and made quite a few changes during the test period.
3. I bought our pair from the best emerald breeder on the planet (i.e. Tony Nicoli). Thank you very much Craig C.! I told Tony that I wanted some mellow babies that the kids could handle, and his blackhead line fit that description. Every baby in the litter was mellow from day one.
4. I received a ton of help from Tony when our animals were getting off to a slow feeding start. Some of you may remember how excited I was to get them to eat on my own without Tony's help. I started our babies on F/T rat pinks. They have never consumed a live prey item. I'm not sure if I would have been able to get them to eat on my own without Tony showing me the emerald mouse dance, and the triggers to get them going. I would recommend that folks buy established feeders if they do not have a resource like this close by.
I'm rambling on these points because complex snakes like emerald tree boas can be quite easy to care for if you invest the time and do it right.

Re: Before & After
Had to vote on this thread. I hope everyone reads it for the info. Many sellers will tell you they're all mean. They probably don't even know whether or not their own snakes can be handled. It would be traumatic to get one from a reptile show or something, and have it refuse to eat.
