you have to put a screen around the light so that he doesnt burn himself. Make sure to leave a few inches from the screen to the bulb.

if you're using some type of heat lamp or bulb use some type of screen to shield the light

i have a 300 hundred watt heat bulb on the outside of the cage already. but this cage is huge and divided into levels, some i'm looking for a good way to heat and shed some light on the lower levels.

Be sure to test the temps on that cage before you put the snake back in there with it. Depending on what you use and how you put it all together it may still get too hot. But if you test it all out you can get it right without too much effort.
