ETB Humidity & Spraying

Hi,
I have a ETB that is in a interim enclosure which maintains a humidity of 90/94% in the day and 77/80% at night without misting. I also mist the actual snake in the day first thing in the morning / early evening. He drinks condensation off of the enclosure not from me misting.

I was wondering about peoples opinions as to whether it is necessary to actually spray the snake as well as it really annoys him, even when using warm water he is most unimpressed by the process.

Cheers
Nick

The way we have things set up we don't spray at all to maintain humidity. I understand that the snake can become accustom to it, but the first time we tried it and saw that vicious tail wagging reaction was the last time. We like to keep the DTH into the mid 80% range, but let the NTL get into the low 60% range for adults.

We do mist the enclosure heavily when we are getting ready for breeding, but we really never spray the snake directly.

Craig

Burmes/Ball has a little shameless behaviour in the past
yeah snakes do not really like to be sprayed directly but if u have that high of a humidity in the cage then i would not worry about spraying the snake he has more then enough humidity to be able to shed properally and be in the right conditions for breeding too.

Actually, emeralds tend to breed during the rainy season and you have a better chance of success if you try to duplicate the seasonal differences. Some males and females will show no interest in breeding unless they are "cycled" properly.
