Chondro, Amazon Tree Boa, Green Tree Python....???

What is the difference between an Amazon Tree Boa, A Chondro and a Green Tree Python??? My fiance wants to get one and from the research I've done so far, it seems that they would need a little more care as far as husbandry goes, than the 2 RTB's and Albino Burmese that we have now. I think that all three look alike (Chondro, ATB and GTP) !!! Can anyone tell me the difference in temperament as well as some physical differences? Thanks!

chondro is an outdated term for green tree python that many still cling to. they are the same thing.

Amazon tree boas look nothing like a green tree python ...perhaps you meant emerald tree boa? they resemble them a bit.

Green tree pythons and Emerald tree boas are a classic example of evolutional convergence. Two totally seperate species from different parts of the world that evolved very similar traits both physical and behavioral. They both start out as babies resembling the bright leaf litter...reds, yellows, orange, burgundy etc...then as they age they turn green. Some Green tree pythons retain a great deal of yellow and some individuals just turn bright yellow all together. Emeralds are a bit less dramatic with color variance. But anyway...how are they different? green trees are from the australia area and are in the morellia family related to carpet pythons. Amazons and Emeralds are in the same family (corallus) and are native to South America. Green Trees lay eggs...and the tree boas give live birth.

Most of the tree boas/pythons i've worked with have been very nippy and the some just downright BITE. But then there's the occasional nice one like my 6 ft halloween ATB, she's as nice as a puppy. Also another issue is the teeth, they are pretty long and can hurt pretty bad(mainly emeralds and green trees) because they are desighned to catch birds and bats and other flying things. Most stay pretty small considering you have RTBs and burms. one more issue is the humidity, they need pretty high humidity or you'll get a heck of a skin problem(not sheding right or no skin coming off at all). After all the hard work Ithink it's worth it considering how awesome the colors are. So after doing the right shopping you might just be lucky and find a really nice one like me.
