My friend has a baby Green Tree (not very young, but still with juvenile colouration), and it has this sort of swollen puffy left eye. It has always been like that, since hatching I believe.

What can be done? Is it a serious condition?

Thanx.

A swollen eye usually isn't something to be taken lightly. If it was like that since hatching then it's possible it could just be some sort of birth defect, and if not adversely affecting the snake and if it doesn't look infected it may not cause a serious problem, although sight through that eye might be diminished or totally lost. Other causes could be the snake scratching the eye on caging material such as driftwood, bedding, screening . . . It's possible the snake was bitten by a prey item. Or it could be caused by improper shedding and an eyecap could have been retained. Like I said, it could be a serious condition, and is something that could be checked by a qualified vetrinarian. Good luck!!

I agree.

Swollen eyes are bad.

check for mites. If your friend has an ongoing mite problem, there is a good chance this poor little guy has been dealing with them his entire life there. Mites love to burrow into the edges of the eyes and will make them puff up.
