Great video...poor lighting. But more of a video as to why you would not want a spider. Yesh...microscopic barbed hairs...yeah that's what I want. NOT

Yeah, they're definitely not perfect but I'm not a Hollywood director with lots of high end equipment. Sorry I could put on a cinematic masterpiece for you.

Not all spiders have urticating hairs (or use them if they do have them).

Re: Handling Videos....

No...seriously...it was a nice production. I could hear you...it was very informative and the lighting? Well...er..ah...it had a X-Files Quality about it, which is cool.
Spiders are awesome....as are all animals. I saw a plate spider on a TV show...Leno I think, and the thing was HUGE! When I was a kid we would go to my uncles farm to visit, and being an insect nut case, (I know...spiders are not insects) I would go out to the barn and find the big spiders that lived there. The webs...oh man the webs...they were HUGE. I would gather up a smorgasbord of bugs and place them in the web. It was so cool, but I would never have picked one of them up.

So what is the best first spider? I have a bunch of empty 10 gal terrariums that are not being used.

Where you at...I could and would help you with a production.

Re: Handling Videos....

I'm located in Louisville, KY (it tells everyone's location if they have that info filled out in the upper right hand corner of their posts).

Heres a care sheet I have authored about spiders....I would suggest a New World terrestrial species of some sort as your first tarantula if you've never kept one before.
