Post-Ultimate Molt Life Expectancy

I've done a little searching and it seems like the expected time for a male T post-ultimate molt is in the 8-18 month range - is this correct?

I was looking through my pictures, all dated, and realized that my male G. aureostriata had his ultimate molt back in September of 2007 and he's still kicking! Well, not really, he's never been a hair flicker, but I guess you could say he's still crawling!

He hasn't ever been much of an eater except for right when I got him. I think he was underfed prior to me getting him because he ate like a champ for the first 2 or 3 months. Since then, 3 years ago, he has regularly ignored food.

Anyways, I was just curious if 29 months is an exceptionally long time for a T to live past ultimate molt.

Re: Post-Ultimate Molt Life Expectancy

The Grammastola species is a very hardy and long lived species. I have a MM G. rosea live for 4 years past his ultimate molt. Sometimes a MM will try to molt again, but usually die if no one is there to help him.
Good luck with him. It just goes to show you that you are a great tarantula keeper.

Wow, 4 years - I'll hope for Kahn getting near the 4 year mark, that would be great!
