My Tarantulas! (2 newbies!)
Ok, time for some photos of the Tarantulas!
Rose-Hair, Veto:
(and old pic of him that I LOVE)
Mexican Red-Knee, Lamp:
Ok, now for the newbs. A few of you know this, a Choco Golden-Knee is pretty much my dream tarantula. I love them and I've wanted one for a long time. I've been e-mailing a local breeder for awhile to get one but he never replied. He just happened to stop in the shop i work at today so i asked him about the possibility of getting me a sling. He left and came back with one!
So without further adieu,
Choco Golden Knee, Lenny (from Of Mice and Men):
aaaand.. not only did he give me a fantastic deal on the Golden-Knee, he gave me this little dude for FREE!
Curlyhair, doesnt have a name yet. He's big on burrowing so when i went to take them out for real photos, i didnt want to disturb him. I got these shots before that though:
Thanks for looking! (I miiiiiight be picking up an a.versicolor sometime soon, too )

Re: My Tarantulas! (2 newbies!)
AWWW! All four are SO cute; congratulations on the two new additions! That is awesome about the breeder giving you a free Curly Hair. Out of curiosity; what is it about the Chaco Golden Knees that makes them your dream Tarantula?
Thanks for sharing; good luck with your new babies!

Re: My Tarantulas! (2 newbies!)
Well, I fell in love with a juvenile one at the NARBC show last year. they're one of the biggest handle-able tarantulas. They get rather large but they stay friendly. plus- they're pretty!

Cute slings , im sure you know this but be careful with those avic slings they apparently like to die unexpectedly... I personally didnt let that stop me from getting my Avic avic or my Avic metallica
Also wait till that chaco gets bigger they're amazing looking, the gf has one and she loves it, its about 3-4inches(might be exaggerating) she also like her rosea which seems like it might be about the same size as yours
have any plans to get some of the faster/more skittish species?
P. regalis and C. cyaneopubescens are some species I personally suggest

Yeah I've raised a.versicolor slings at work before. We got in 5 the other day and I'm letting them grow a little bit before i decide if i want one
Yup, there's a reason i wanted a Choco- I've seen them as adults and i drool every time.
Right now, I'm not planning on any other Ts than the versicolor. I'd like to get some more aggressive or faster species, but that'll be a few years down the road. I'd like to start with something larger if it's going to be so fast
I absolutely LOVE Pterinochilus murinus, i think that's the right name.. lol

I love Chocos; I held one for the first time at the OKC Expo, and it was the sweetest thing ever!
Congrats on your acquisitions. (:

Re: My Tarantulas! (2 newbies!)
Great new grabs!! One of my first Ts was a G. pulchripes(aka G. aureostriata). Great beginner T, gets large, beautiful, and stays relatively calm.
IMO.... people that have just gotten into Ts(meaning the first few years) should stay away from the Poecilotheria family. They are lightning fast and pack a good bite. Check out this Bite Report before thinking about purchasing one.

lol awesome! I actually was considering not keeping the curly-hair but the little bugger grew on me. there were 4 T's on my "must-have" list. I have three of them now. Just gotta get me a versicolor!
