Having grown up in Texas, I don't recall ever seeing half the critters you seem to find. Of course, I did grow up in the city.
That is one cool bug.

Well, those do have a big range in Texas, mostly west Texas, I think, but also a lot of the Hill country.. but in fact I photographed that big one recently while in the Cloudforest of Tamaulipas, Mexico.. here's a photo of that habitat..

I have driven through Tamaulipas many times, but have never seen habitat as lush as that. I would have certainly made the extra time to find that place.
I'm not surprised to think that there are many, many critters that I have never seen in Texas. After all, Texas has a huge variety of wildlife. Thanks for always reminding me of that.
