My Rosehair (Attn: M2788)
This is my rosehair tarantula, just over a year old and still un-named.
M2788 requested I post pictures of her enclosure (12" cube, Exo-terra), and I was happy to oblige!
Please excuse her preference of showing her rump in these pictures...
I had just fed/misted her and she wanted some privacy from the camera it seems.
Overall enclosure:
.

.
(cricket pose!)
Close-up:
.
She was getting irritated at this point and started to raise her hairs:
.
Thanks for looking; hope this helps, M2788!

Nice looking T there.
Do you have any others?
On a side note rosies are more of a dry deserty species and dont care for much misting

Thank you.
I don't have any others, but I'd love to have a Nhandu Chromatus someday.
I don't mist her often at all, just every now and then. The humidity here in Texas is fine even if she were from a tropical location, haha.

Re: My Rosehair (Attn: M2788)
That is awesome; thank you so much! It is set up beautifully, and your tarantula is absolutely adorable. You definitely have me sold on a terrarium type for when I finally get another tarantula.
Thanks again!!

Re: My Rosehair (Attn: M2788)
Actually those cages are not the best for a terrestrial species... As a rule of thumb, you do not want the cage more then a 2-3 legspans(from leg L1-R4) high. They can fall and rupture their abdomen or break a leg.
I'm with Caliking on the misting... it never needs to be done. Just a big bowl like you have is more then enough.

Tarantulas are soooo underrated. They are amazingly low maintenance pets. I love mine.
Yours is very cute.

Re: My Rosehair (Attn: M2788)
Thanks for the compliments. Glad I could help, M2788!
Reptscue; I knew of the legspan rule when I bought the enclosure. It actually looks bigger in the pictures, and she looks smaller. She's definitely okay in the Exo-terra as far as the rule goes. Thank you for the concern!
Again - misting is just an extra precaution thing I do. Rarely ever.

Re: My Rosehair (Attn: M2788)
She was a few months when I got her, so I actually wouldn't be surprised if she were closer to two years.

Re: My Rosehair (Attn: M2788)
that's a really big growth for two years, from what I've seen.... My rosie is almost a year old and she's the size of a half dollar. hmm.

Re: My Rosehair (Attn: M2788)
Hmm. Well, I did get her from one of those less-than-reputable-petstores as a gift; so I know that their words aren't as good as gold anyways.
I'll leave it that I've had her since Easter of 2008, if that helps, Sam.

Re: My Rosehair (Attn: M2788)
ahhh lol. they may have not been entirely truthful at the pet store.. haha. I bought mine as a sling, that's the only reason I know about how old she is. Its kinda hard to tell when they're bigger. Anywho, thanks for putting up with my mild badgering, I was just curious lol

It's not hard to believe that "she" got that big in that amount of time... if "she" is a he. If so... I have a ton of girls here.
