The pain isnt too serious. It all swollen, moist and glistening. I have a slight tingling in my arm, but it feels like its on fire! Really warm, like someones used deep heat on my arm.
Here are some pics, not to clear though.

Keeping any animal that is capable of biting, the time will come when you will get bit. However, the point is why would you want to taunt your arachnid to bite you? There is absolutely no real reason in doing this. Like Ravnos said, the first bite, you might not have a allergic reaction, but the second one you might. I still don't see how wanting to let your arachnid bite you is going to change anything. Either way, it looks like a painful occasion.

I don't mind getn taged by my boas too much, but a spider..............no way !!. At least when you get taged you can't realy see the teeth, but those fangs on spiders creep me out. I think i would keep anything before spiders. More power to ya for keepm' though. Some people think I'm strange because I love snakes. So I guess I am in no position to say anything about keep'n spiders, guess there just not for me. Anyway COOL pic, look painful. Welcom to the bleeders culb.

I don't know that much about T bites, but that sounds neurotoxic to me.

No one knows much about tarantula venom, all the more reason to not be so foolish.

It isnt at all bad, The pain is nearly gone. I expected to get bitten when drunk, lol. The beast must have read my mind, and took a pre-emptive strike.
We know enough about Tarantula venom to know that nobody has ever died from a bite. A healthy, fit young man is unlikely to be seriously injured. I also have a spider bite First Aid kit ready, which contains an adrenaline boost.

Just remember that there is always a first. Anaphalaxys (sp) can hit fast and hard. But yes, most T's are considered "harmless" But by the same token, a lot of rear fang colbrids were too until recently. Hopefully, there will be some good T venom research soon.

Not to get on a soapbox or anything, but why are you handling your animals when drunk? It sounds dangerous for not only you, but your spider as well. Reaction time as well as balance are seriously affected with alcohol consumption. I would be afraid of letting the little guy get away from me, or stumbling and dropping it, or something like that. I know you meant it as a joke, I just don't think handling any animal (especially any that can bite) while under the influence is a good idea.
There are some exceptions to the rule, I guess. Just ask BWSmith....that dude has been drunk most of his adult life, and he has hots.... I guess he thinks that snake venom will not cause damage to an elf???

Well, yeah But just to clarify, no hot cages get opened after a beer gets cracked. That would make an even worse headline

Well, I have to go with Richy on this one. If you want to get bit, then go ahead. Like I said before, just don't hurt the animal in the process. So little is known about the effects of Tarantula venom, that if you document it well, and give the honest truth about the effects, I think it could be helpful to the hobby. I had tried to get a P. regalis to bite me, but much to the dislike of the others posted in this board, I got pretty hammered first. Sober - I rethought it and decided to leave it to the scientists and toxicologists. FWIW Richy, you should add the report to the Bite Report Forum on www.arachnopets.com/arachnoboards.

It really isn't a great idea to let ANY venomous animal bite you on purpose.
Not in the name of sport nor research, unless it is in a controlled environment, ALL other meds and foreign substances are out of your system (sober) and in quick access to emergency meds and supplys.
Just in case.
It would be very bad press for all T lovers if something did happen, like a severe reaction and death due to the toxins intermingling with other substances in the testers body.
As for 'in the name of research', nah, more like an act of altered state of mind.

King_Looey no longer posts on Arachnopets.
Apart from my arm feeling reall warm, there was no real side effects. It seems that T.Blondis rely on their fangs to kill their pray.

There are maybe 3 people in the whole country and a half dozen world-wide even identifying all the new and otherwise unknown species, muchless anyone doing any more specific research.
