I read this in Schultz and Schultz, for those that havent got the book (For shame!), here is an old African myth about the Tarantula. I cant remember it word for word, but here it is.
The son of a great chieftain was very vain, he constantly paraded around in all his best clothes, ivory and beads, showing off to those less fortunate.
While he was out wandering the plains, he met a Tarantula.
The Tarantula said to the boy, that he could look just as handsome, if only he had such fine clothes. The boy just laughed, as he found the Tarantulas ugliness repulsive. Over come by his vanity, he put all his clothes, ivory and beads on the Tarantula.
How do i look asked the spider? The boy replied that he looked a little better, but still was ugly.
So the spider walked slightly further away. How about now ? he asked. The boy said much better, but very ugly still.
So again the spider walked even further, so the boy was far. How about now? asked the Tarantula. Much better, but im still better looking.
So the spider walked further, then ran as fast as it could, and dived into its burrow. Along with all the princes' finery!
LOL! It must have been a king baboon.
