I have Usambaras and i think there really cool but everyone is always in a debate about wether the burrow or stay above ground, i have one that has made a webb tunnel that goes all the way under ground and then i have one that has a webb tunnel that runs around the side of the glass and bark. These are very cool Ts and i have no prob with mine being mean except for when you mess with its webb house.. Mine will come out and do a threat pose but thats about all..other than that they have never tried to get out or run up the glass to get at me or try to attack me in anyway..They are very pretty firey orange.. Youl enjoy yours Rich!!!!! And Bill, you dont have one of these yet??? Gota get one buddy...hehehe!

They're neat T's but they spend most of their time in their burrows. My only advice would be, don't get bit by one. A friend of mine did and he was in agony for 2 days.

I will take a bite from both my Usambara, and my goliath before i decide to go for my training. I will do this to prove my manhood. I will take some pics too.

Anyone who keeps venomous reptiles knows how random reactions can be to venom, even someone who is not allergic can magically gain an allergy to it out of the blue, with no explaination as to why. There is no reason why tarantulas should be any different in that respect. Each species has different venom, and even each species' venom can vary depending on locale. I'm sure BWSmith could talk more about the dangers and random effects of venom if he even reads this particular group. Venoms are very complicated in structure and vary widely in composition. Intentionally envenomating yourself is not too smart, regardless of how 'not dangerous to humans' something is considered. You never ever know how you will react... and you might be fine once, and the second time you get envenomated suddenly have a reaction. Just seems very foolish to me. I've never heard of allergy tests for tarantula venoms. Must be quite the research lab.

That sounds... very immature of you. Still, I tired it before, so no complaints. Just try not to hurt em in the process.
