Well, I was in a local pet store inspecting the cage of a Florida Slender Brown Scorpion (Centruroides gracilis), picked up the bark and bang... stinger into the thumb. Never had one be so ready and so defensive before, but I feel like a dip#$%^&#$%^&#$%^&#$%^& nonetheless so figured now that I have a decent pic, I'd post and humble myself.

Their venom is neurotoxic, causes the brain to misfire neurotransmitters, the end result is paralysis. I lost all sensation in the tip of my thumb for about 8 hours. Felt just like it does when you burn the tip of a finger and you have little or no sensation in it for a few days? No signs of anaphylaxis, thankfully.

Anyway... she came home with me. A constant reminder of my first real envenomation.

Rav

LOL. Yah, I won't take home anything that doesn't attack me either. So I'll be keeping hots as soon as I take a hit from one. Only joking, but congrats, it is beautiful.

Glad to know you survived the evil attack!
And that it was something that couldn't kill you too easily either.
Seems odd that we like what hurts us at times.
