New to Arachnids
Here is the FIRST one i have EVER had. Actually it is my 12 y/o daughters. Last weekend at the Atlanta show she asked if she could get "SOMETHING", i said yes think it was an Albino Nelsons or something of the sort because she has wanted a colubrid for a while now. Then she dragged me over to the T's. She picked out this one. Reluctantly we got it for her, and she named it Barbie! I must say i have grown quite fond of her.

LMAO @ Barbie..Of all the names! So does she hold it and all that?
My daughter is still scared of the spiders..Still working on her to get used to the snakes completely about the only one she feels comfy with is the snow corn snake. Pink..Doesnt help she goes to her dad's who hates ALL animals..But at least she is learning..My 2 1/2 yr old on the other hand has NO fear and likes ALL animals..I have to watch her..if she sees a Copperhead or Rattlesnake she would want to pet it!

Gorgeous, what is the scientific name of it, at first glance it looked like a Grammastola Rosea but when I clicked on it it didn't.

Yes she is a Rose. Pretty huh? Yes we hold her, my daughter too. As a matter of fact, she wants to hold her all the time.
Barbie is something my daughter came up with because people associate the name Barbie with the most beloved little girls toy. And, in her words, people would feel safer holding "Barbie" vs say "killer". So it was a mental play on people really.

Welcome to keeping inverts. Im so glad to see a parent so open minded. Beware though, you cant just keep one. I started out with taking one scorpion home because a friend wasnt "into it" anymore. Had to hide the poor thing in my closet until I moved out. Now I have a dining room full of scorpions and about to purchase about 10 more next week. Eventually im gonna be the old man married to the old lady with 2 million scorpions and snakes running around the house and your going to see me getting raided by the SPCA on animal planet. Ill be on tv living in squalid conditions with scorpion *stuff* piled to the ceiling and snakes passed out drunk in spilled beer on the counter and rats on the couch watchin tv and eatin chips.

congrats. I'm a snake man myself but my girlfreinds son loves his new tarantula we got him two weeks ago at a show, not an inpulse buy either, he's been to 3 show's and asks the guy 50 different questions about them. Not knowing to much about them myself got a book on them there's alot to learn about them. Good luck with it.

LOL your daughter has excellent tastes in Ts. Just be careful, its even more addictive than the snake hobby, they're smaller and easier to find room for LOL

Cobalt blue are very good looking but aggressive may I suggest an Antillean Pink-toe. They start out blue when there baby, and the one we have is one and a half years old still blue, but there carapace turns geen and addomen turns bright red, and alot less aggressive.

Yeah, we are DEFINITELY going to want one we can handle every once in a while. But first we have alot of research to do. And my daughter has alot of learning to do about the caring and loving for the one she has. She wants to get it out everyday, and i try to tell her that she does not want to be held near that much, so we are on a once a week schedule. Thanks for all the support yall.
yungair23 send some pic of the boa. i love to see how much they have grown. Glad evrything worked out for you, and she that is doing fine.
