The Eastern Garter Snake (Thamnophis sirtalis sirtalis) was able to capture and consume most of the Long-tailed Salamander (Eurycea longicauda longicauda). But just as the forelimbs were being swallowed the salamander's toxins became too much for the garter snake. The snake opened his mouth and the salamander simply strolled out. Both animals headed in different directions. I'm sure that the snake learned that brightly colored salamanders are brightly colored for a reason.
