um lol...That's like finding a stray dog and not feeding him but giving him a pork chop lol. The minnows are probably making fun of you for trying to catch them with a big old turtle on the hook.
Getting a hook out of a turtle is tricky. I had to get one out of a 15 lb snapping turtle once. NO FUN! but in a way probably easier in the long run than a smaller turtle since there is such a smaller work area. Good Luck. A vet is probably the best bet as a anesthesia is probably going to be a must. All I had to do was let the snapper chomp down on a 2x4 while I wiggled it out with some long needlenosed pliars. Kudos for caring enough to get the little guy some help.
