Have you considered using a moist substrate and a pan so he can soak when he needs to?
I just rotated pans in all my cages (after disinfecting them).
The beardies (they are in the same cage as of this week) are using the iguana pan (whichI am shocked that my large beardy is actually using---she is soaking each morning)
The Iguanas have the tegu pan (which is being used just not infront of me---I see all the dead skin)
And the tegus have a plastic drawer from the children's playroom.
I think all animals enjoy soaking when they need/want to.
Between that and the moist substrate (my iggy's dig under rocks to sleep so they are surrounded by moist substrate all night) it should be fine.
Have you had any difficult sheds?
