I don't use *any* chemicals or fertilizers on the hibiscus in my chameleon's cage, and it's doing fine. If it stops blooming, I sometimes re-pot it in fresh top soil with NO additives. This usually gets it going again. I'd rather not take any chances with chemicals, although I do think there are natural ways to fertilize, like compost tea. You might want to ask at your local gardening center for an organic fertilizer.
