Trying something a little different...

I decided to try something different when photographing animals. I really don't like to black rocks I've been using in photos recently because they are shiny and tend to reflect too much light back sometimes. But I do like using black as a background because it is a good base color to use in judging/comparing reptile colorations on so...

We had some black velvet material laying around and I decided to give it a try. I used the regular settings on my camera that I have been using in the past plus added a full spectrum flourescent light overhead to help light up any dark/shadowed areas on the animals.

I think it worked pretty well...let me know what you think..?

Thanks for looking!

Celia

This is probably my favorite photo out of the ones I took today. This girl is about 4 feet long now and I think this photo captures her true colorations very well...

My Arabesque Boa...she's about 5 feet long now...I couldn't get her to hold still for anything today!

The little Motley guy...
