Well, im a senior this year, and i decided a long time ago that im gonna be a vet for herps.
I'm still not sure how much one would make dealing with herps, but the herp vets around here seem to be getting enough....70 bucks for a checkup....lol. ( i know that doesnt go directly to them) I figure i wont be making too much when i start, but just the joy of being able to work with what i love each day is enough for me. I'd hate to have to sit behind a desk for 8 hrs a day.
And if you arent up for being in college forever, you could always do something with zoos, or a vet tech. I dont think vet techs have to go for as long, cuz they dont do the surgery and stuff of the sort.
