I kill my fuzzies by placing them on a table and putting the thin edge of a ruler behind their head, over their necks. A quick press *crunch* and the job is done.

The bonus of this is that you still get a body shudder and jerk for another couple of minutes so the picky eaters get to think they are jumping on live.
