Okay here goes:
My leopard geckos' names are Hawaii, Java, and Klondike. Hawaii was named because the words 'Hawaii' and 'gecko' just seemed to work together. Java was named for the coffee-colored spots down the middle of her back. Klondike was named for her white coloring. That was back when I thought she was a snow, she turned out to be a high-yellow.
The snakes' names are Zaida, Zena, Zavier, Zander, Zolton, Zephyr, Elsie, and Zero. I gave my snakes names starting with Z because my last name happens to be Zigler. It's just a Z thing, you wouldn't understand. Zaida is Irish-Gaelic for huntress. Zena is Arabic for friendly. I thought I'd use a little irony in her name because she isn't the friendliest snake you'll meet. Zavier, my kingsnake was named because I remember reading somewhere about a King Xavier or Zavier. Elsie, my female bullsnake, was named because female bulls are cows, so I gave her a cow name. Zero was named for two reasons, he came to Ground Zero with us the day I got him because I couldn't leave him in the car; also because he cost exactly that, zero. I also used to have a pair of U. Fimbriatus named Taha and Fisaka. The Madagascan name for leaftail geckos is Taha-Fisaka which means demons or demons of the forest/trees, something to that extent.
