I will see if I can get some Cypress mulch in at the local herp shop. What does it look like (compared to coconut bark & aspen)?
Several months ago I was in the local herp shop (I was preparing to do my bookkeeping practicum there), talking with the owner, when she asked if I would like to hold one of the snakes. I had never held a captive bred snake before (only wild caught garters from where I used to live), so was a bit nervous. Of course, this little guy was the coolest thing, so friendly and deffinately not aggressive in the least.
My hubby was the most difficult to convince. He was terrified of snakes! So, I brought him in to the shop, where he held 3 different snakes in one day. He was very happy with himself (holding an adult corn, a rtb, & this little guy).
So, months and months later we decided that we would choose our first snake. I was having a hard time picking between an adult charcoal corn (amazing guy, just love him), a baby charcoal corn, and this little spotted. So, in the end it was this one. His personality and size was perfect for where we live now.
We both adore him, and even my pet-hating BIL thought he was just the coolest thing!
Now speaking of addictions, I have a feeling we will end up with a few more snakes in the near future, as hubby and I are buying the local herp shop

We should be taking it over in a few months

We are both extremely happy with it, and can't wait to get in there! That's why I first came to this board, on recomendation of someone online. I have been reading as much as possible about the various types of herps (that I know will be there and may again come to us).
I do plan on keeping a few more snakes, though we haven't sat down to decide on what kinds. I love the RTBs, but I hesitate at the potential size. Balls are nice too. So many snakes, so little time, lol.
