As much as I like to post on RTB, this forum is everyones least favorite. Today my Female Amazon Tree Boa died. She was a real nicely maked garden (Ex Halloween) Actually had a pretty desent temperment. Slow to strike, but of course she did eventually.
Not sure what the cause was. Only thing different was on feeding day she was really hungry She normally eats 1 f/t Jumbo mouse a week. These mice are the size of most small rats. She ate almost every week, except in shed. She pooped very regularly. Well this week i had a left over mouse and she had downed her real quick, so I offered her another. She scarfed that down real quick too. Next few days she acted totally normal, perched all the time. Then about 5 days after she ate she got very bloated. I had a feeling she was going to regurge. And the next day I found her on the floor of the cage totally disoriented, and regurged 2 mice. She looked awful. I soaked her in a shallow bowl of 50/50 Pedialyte. She still didnt look too good. Then when i came home I found her of course laying over her heat pad. She must have been dead a few hours cuz the basement already was starting to smell.
Nothing had changed in her husbandry. Only thing different was she had 2 mice.
I had gotten her as an adoption about 5 months ago. She was right about 5' long.
I'll miss the little girl.
