For all of you in college, most colleges offer a year-abroad program. I did this in my senior year. I lived and went to school in St. Andrews, Scotland and got to travel all over Europe. I even spent the summer on a Greek island. I did this all on student grants and loans and a shoestring budget. Of course I didn't have any animals then. But if you get the chance, it's a life-changing experience. I highly recommend it for the adventurous types.

Yes, I'm leaving for a study abroad program in Namibia Africa in 14 days (holy crap 14 days!!

)!! I'll get to do my own research project on small mammals and their lice, plus help with taking care of the research station's 100 or so cheetahs. Also we'll get to go herping, birding, and mammaling and watch water holes for wildlife. It's kinda otherwordly and it hasn't fully hit me yet that I'll be over there for 3 whole months and another 2 weeks with some friends cruising around South Africa.
