Stu, I mean't to respond to your thread but I forgot. The area you were in isn't the best for herping, especially for snakes. It's dry forest, so you won't find B. asper up there. You could find Porthidium, Crotalus, and Agkistrodon up there though. You need to get to the rain forests which will increase your chances greatly.
