So, I've been thinking lately about getting an Iguana. I'm in no hurry though and would like to wait a year or two or even longer, depending a lot on where I'll be in the future. I'm almost 17(will be 17 in about a month) and really don't want to get in over my head! I figure in a year or so I should have a decent job, my current living status will be the same, and I plan on going to a college close to home. Of course there is always unplanned things in life, so like I said..it all depends on how clear my future is. Even if I don't get one 'soon' I would still like to own one at some point in my future. I think they are magnificent animals and my brother use to have one when I was little and it was one of my favorite pets in the house growing up. I've been researching them a bit and found a lot of information on this site (
Green Iguana Society)..I plan on researching a lot more and any suggestions on good websites/books/other sources would be greatly appreciated!
I've also looked into a rescue, but I've encountered a slight problem with this. Almost every single Iggy I've seen that is in a rescue is in need of an "Experienced Iguana Keeper" =( Also, I kinda want to start off with a baby/small Ig because I figured by the time I get one, Steve will be well moved to a bigger cage.So his 4X2X2 (LXWXH) would be good for a baby Ig with a bit of redecorating lol..And will give me a bit of time to start on making a bigger cage for it. Not saying I wont rescue, just saying I'm not really sure what I'm going to do ATM!
Like I said, this is set far off from now, but I love researching and learning! So, any advice/experience/good learning resources/or just about anything will be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks a million!
