A couple months after I got my Green Tree, I noticed that this tip of his little nose was black sometimes. I didn't really think much of it, especially after I switched him into the new cage. I figured maybe he was rubbing a little bit while trying to get acclimated to his surroundings, or something. Well, the little black spot didn't really go away, even though he's been in his new set up for 2 months or something. We just got a puppy, so I've been getting up at odd hours or the night to comfort him when he whines or wakes up, and the other night, I noticed Yoshi (the green tree) was moving around, and doing something weird. He was reaching up as tall as he could to the top of the cage, touching the screen with his nose right under the night heat light, and then jerking back. He did this several times, before prowling around some more. So I think thats where his little black nose is coming from. When he jerked his head back, it was as if it had burned him when he touched the screen (which I would imagine it had...its a 75 watt bulb). He's burning himself! I feel terrible. Has anybody else experienced this before? He's apparently been doing it for a while...in this cage and the old one. What should I change? I can move the light further away from the cage, but the screen will still get hot. Plus I dont want him getting too cold at night (my last baby chondro died after 2 weeks from a RI on top of being an import). I posted pics of his scarred nose, and a pic of his cage for reference. Temps and humidity are
perfect I might add (I LOVE this new set up. It cycles the water and the bulb heats the cage just enough).
