Hi Jason!

The point of field herping is to go out and find snakes. Sometimes you go out with an object in mind and sometimes you go out just looking for whatever you can find. For instance: on this trip BWSmith was really hoping to find some Pygmy rattlesnakes to use in his educational program. His object of road crusing was to find a pygmy. It didn't happen, but I think he was more than pleased with the snakes that we did find. He ended up going home with a baby canebrake rattler for his educational programs.

I myself really wanted to find a pretty cornsnake. We went to north florida and while road-crusing with BWSmith, I found a really pretty cornsnake that went home with me. Most of the other snakes that we caught had their pictures taken and where then released.

I will admit, I did feel a bit like Jeff Corwin being out there and seeing the wildlife.

And besides all that, it was awfully fun to just get together with our fellow Reptilehaven members and have a good weekend of camping, fishing, swimming, and herping.

Hope that explanation helps!
-Your Sick Uncle Morti.
