I don't recall anyone ever stating or even inferring that they do or should be afraid of their snakes. Only that they should take precautions when dealing with them.
Some people honestly don't know or grasp how dangerous a relatively small snake can be.
I think everyone here knows very well and has seen the pictures that I seem to post once a month or so of the retic that killed my friend Patrick. Simply put, if Patrick had not attempted to handle his 11 foot retic by himself, he would be alive today. LdyDrgn and I had both personally told Patrick to be careful with his retics.
I don't want anyone to live in fear of their snake, but at the same time, I don't want anyone to completely write off the risk as minimal either. Writing off risks is part of what leads to accidents happening. Accidents with giant snakes can kill you.
