Re: Here is another Question to be Asked
For starters, you should never, EVER take your snake out to a public place with intentions of letting it stretch out and roam like you'd let your dog or kid do.. They run the risk of picking up some kind of pathogen from the native fauna, they run the risk of scaring people, they run the risk of deciding to have "one bad moment" and strike/bite you, your kids, someone else, someone else's kids, etc and therefore endanger you, your snake, others, and herpetology as a whole.
Secondly - do not EVER take your eyes off your snake if it is not in direct contact with your body. Even then a responsible reptile owner is watching it's head and body language constantly, just in case. ESPECIALLY never turn your back on them if they are not in direct contact with your body. For ANY reason.
If for some bizarre reason there is a snake up a tree(it wouldn't be yours, because you are a RESPONSIBLE keeper) you can always try to climb the tree and extricate the snake yourself, ONLY IF there is at LEAST one other responsible adult around to help you if you get into a pinch.
If that is impossible, and you live in the Portland area, you can always call Portland Critter Control. They'll give you my number(if it isn't me that picks up the phone) and I'll come out with spike boots, rope, a snake bag, a snake hook, and a very sour look on my face.
